Grief is a meandering journey

At 13:30 on 28th October 2021, life as I knew it changed forever.

Watching my father (“Pops”) take his last breath is a moment I will treasure forever. It provides unadulterated sadness and joy in equal measure. Sadness because a part of me died with Pops but joy that I was there in that moment to remind Pops that it was okay for him to pass on and leave us behind. He wasn’t conscious in order to provide me with any response nor indicate that he had heard my words but him leaving soon after provides me with solace.
